Music is a medium by which one provides an intense scope into their internal thoughts and intrinsic emotions. Music is governed by the interior machinery of one's existence and most often transcends existence in terms of consciousness. Keita...that is Mushen Alex Keita, a young 18 year old guy hailing from Boston via Brazilian origins, encompasses a musical talent, void in the landscape of music production and overall, talent, in today's popculture arena. Producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mushen Keita, who is addressed onstage and in artist branding as Shen 07, has fused space-age, 'Voyage Through Armageddon-"like tones with progressive Neo-Soul fixtures to produce a rather, futuristic, avant garde music pallet. This young man is nothing short of genius, yet his overpowering humility and charisma mellow out his catastrophic intelligence. Shen 07, joins Life and Style Union, for an upclose and personal look on his origins, what factors contributed to his love of music, and his plans for the future.
Ashleigh: Take us back to the day when you realized you were different. Or did you realize it at all?
Ashleigh: How did you feel when you regained your hearing and speech?
Ashleigh: In terms of artistry, what inspired you to create?
Ashleigh: In a recent interview on examiner.com, many were awe-struck at your life story, specifically the origins by which you came to enjoy and create music. Some even compromised the credibility of your story by verbally opposing the interview's content. What do you have to say for this?
Ashleigh: As an aspiring artist, what are your future ambitions?
Ashleigh: Success is eminent for you as your drive and passion for music supersedes that of the masses. Have you thought of what you would like to do in terms of philanthropy, once you have reached critical success?
Ashleigh: What exactly is your term of success to begin with?
Ashleigh: For all those who may be unaware of where to locate your music, please inform.
Ashleigh: Take us back to the day when you realized you were different. Or did you realize it at all?
Mushen:
I realized that I was different when I finally admitted it to myself in the 1st grade. But I didn't know it had to do with music at that time.
Ashleigh: In what ways did you compensate imagery and communication for your hearing loss and speech impediment?
Mushen;
I drew pictures to communicate my thoughts and banged on pots and pans for attention. I was a needy child.
Mushen:
My hearing and speech flowed into my life smoothly. But there was that definite day when I walked out of my house and I heard birds tweeting. Music to my ears.
Mushen:
I usually say the universe does, and it's really everything. Moments in time. Love. Experiences and emotions, all that.
Ashleigh: How has your prior disabilities molded your craft?
Mushen:
I never really thought about it much, but I guess it's allowed me to analyze sound more and pick it apart. I hear a lot more than normal people hear now, so I can get really detailed with my music. It's like hyper-realistic painting.
Mushen:
Aah, well that was one person saying that stuff, bless his little heart. I guess what I have to say is this, I've never really talked about my past much, only a select few people know details, and he definitely wasn't one of those people. What he says isn't really damaging but it does hurt me that perhaps in the future people will question my honesty if they see that article. Besides, guys in my high school are like high school girls, their conniving and they'll try to take you down to hell. But ask any good friend of mine, I'm always honest, and show love, respect and compassion. Haters are unavoidable, especially in Boston. He should call me sometime and say hi.
Mushen:
Future ambitions. To continue to grow as an artist seeking excellence and to find success while preserving my soul as a singer, producer and a songwriter. Leave my mark on humanity so people in space colonies will know that I existed.
Mushen:
Philanthropy is fun, not that I would know, but I'd definitely try to do something to help the slums in brazil. My mom tells me don't bother, they don't want any help. Honestly, she's right - we've been through all of that, we know how to be poor and happy. But I could still make it work, times are changing. I'd definitely like donate to cancer research and development. That's all I can think of for now. Oh, if I see anything musical or artistic worth putting the money to see it become reality, consider it done.
Mushen:
Success is being rich and famous... Naw. TRUE Success: Achieving your your ambitions, while being able to love. Being able to live with or without material wealth and be happy. To be able to create and own your art. Also accepting the fact that your ambitions will actually never be fulfilled until death, and beyond. But most importantly, Love. Love yourself, love your partner. Love the actuality of your existence. Love your god, if you believe. Love the reality.
Mushen:
