While Fall is making its abrupt end and winter is peeking its head some of the highlighted trends we saw this Fall for Men including trench coats, knit scarves, the classic cardigan with a twist, bowties, and accessories-particularly brooches…wait what? Brooches for men? yes! The everyday man has decided to stand out among the rest by touching up his garment with a masculine brooch.
I have been in awe this season of some of the most awesome trench coats/pea coats I have ever seen this Fall. It’s not enough to have that great outfit but to top it off with the top of the line quality coat speaks volumes of a man. Often times helping others define who you are. The first piece of garment anyone ever sees is the outside garment. So it’s important to make sure that your coat is just as tailored and well made as your clothes on underneath. Ranging from $450 at Burberry to as low as $50 at Target there are many options to finding a great coat to compliment your outfit and personality.

Tied to greatness is truly the statement being made this season. Bowties have come back with a vengeance. Coming in variety with rhinestones, feathers, overlaying bows, plaid, denim, wool, to your oh so classic bowtie is back and is here to make an announcement. I personally am not a fan of the bowtie however; it has made quite a name for itself not only for the business man in the office but the college student off to the movies as well. It has become the fade of this decade. Great places to find some unique bowties are from private owned boutiques, thrift shops & goodwill’s and at the world famous Nordstrom’s where a professional will show you how to tie a bowtie in person.

The old American classic cardigan knowingly associated being worn by Mr. Roger from PBS Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood television sitcom has arisen from the dead. For the foreseeable future the trend in men's cardigans revolve around the classics, but more specifically modern takes on the classics. Cardigans aren’t as much of a trend as it has become an everyday essential to the everyday man. Paired with jeans to the slacks in the office it has become a must have item. I have seen some great cardigans in American Apparel, H&M, and online. I absolutely LOVE cardigans. Outside of jeans it’s become one of my favorite looks in my closet. I find it easy to just put on a v-neck t-shirt, a pair of great dark washed Levi jeans, a Polo Chuck Taylor and throw on a solid color cardigan and maybe top it off with a scarf.

A brooch for men? To the common man this is the question that many men ponder with reservation. Does wearing a brooch compromise my manhood? Can I still be masculine with a brooch? Something so common yet so complex. LOL But wait, I think I got the answer…
Some of the most known accessories among men for years were the watch and a wedding band. But metro sexual men have shaken up the fashion world by taken the norm and adding a kick of flare to their wardrobe. Very few accessories exist for men but a brooch for men is one accessory that can cross gender boundaries. I personally am a huge fan of brooches for me and believe it’s something that every man should invest at least one in. It gives your outfit and look that extra appeal of class and elegance. Some of the most well known designers have made it their business to push this new fashion trend for men such as: Yves Saint Laurent and John Varvatos
